PROJECT TITLE: Nanocomposites based on recycled cellulose and carbon nanohorns for building materials with improved fire action resistance

CONSORTIUM:
Partenerii

Romana ROMANIAN VERSION

The general objectives (GO) of this project are:

GO1 - Development of high technical performances materials based on recycled natural components to be used in buildings construction with a high energetic and civil safety level.
GO2 - Supporting the circular economy related to the waste of wood industry.

The specific objective (SO) of the project is:

SO - Development of a monolithic nanomaterial based on cellulose modified with phosphorous groups mixed with carbon nanohorns (CNHs) and resin (SU8ER) with thermal-insulating property and superior resistance to the fire action.

The operational objectives (OO) of the work plan are:

OO1 - Obtaining the cellulosic matrix by delignification of sawdust and its characterization by morpho-structural-thermal techniques.
OO2 - Composites preparation by mixing the cellulose material with H3PO4, CNHs and SU8ER in various proportions.
OO3 - Evaluation and testing the obtained monolithic composites in high temperature conditions by thermal conductivity assessment, MCC and vertical flame burning.
OO4 - Morpho-structural and mechanical characterization of the obtained monolithic nanocomposites before and after exposing to heat and fire action by using microscopy (optical, SEM), structural (weighing, EDX, XRD, FTIR and Raman spectroscopy, photoluminescence) and mechanical techniques (tensile measurements).
OO5 - Project management and the assessment of the economic potential.
